Isa Koi Farm

The house

Isa Koi Farm was founded in 1970 by Hajime Isa in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, and is now run by second-generation breeder Mitsunori Isa. The farm operates roughly 70,000 square meters across 31 mud ponds and built its reputation on 'Isa Showa,' a bloodline recognized for powerful, well-balanced bodies and dramatic contrast between jet-black sumi and deep red-and-white skin, while growing to larger sizes than Showa were traditionally believed capable of reaching without losing body quality. Isa also breeds Kohaku and Taisho Sanke alongside its signature Showa line, and the farm has become one of the most sought-after breeders in the Niigata region.
