Izumiya Koi Farm
The house
Izumiya Koi Farm was established in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture roughly 80 to 90 years ago under founder Ichiro Mano, who trained subsequent breeders including Ogata Koi Farm's Manabu Ogata and was known within the industry as an authority on Nishikigoi breeding. The farm is now run by fourth-generation breeder Ryu Mano, continuing a legacy built on durability, growth potential, and vibrant coloration. Izumiya is best known for producing exceptional Yamabuki Ogon, the metallic yellow variety that has become a signature of the farm, alongside Benigoi, Sanke, Showa, and Koromo (Goromo). With nearly a century of continuous operation, Izumiya is regarded as one of the most experienced koi farms in Japan and remains a regular stop on Niigata breeder tours.

Children of the Sun Koi, doing business as Cots Koi, is a Washington State importer founded in 2004 that sources exclusively from named Japanese breeders including Dainichi, Ikarashi, Maruyama, Izumiya, and Torazo Koi Farms rather than breeding its own stock. It carries Gosanke varieties, Shiro Utsuri, and Ginrin koi across a wide price range, with a live-arrival guarantee that applies to air-cargo shipments but not to UPS shipments. It is included in this Northeast/Midwest research batch even though it is West Coast-based, per the assigned task scope. Note: it competes in the same national import-focused segment as some larger East and West Coast dealers.
