Maruhiro Koi Farm is based in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, and is owned by Hironori Maruhiro, son of Seitaro Hirasawa, founder of the related Marusei Koi Farm (established 1960 in Kawaguchi, Nagaoka). Drawing on that family breeding background, Maruhiro specializes in Gosanke (Kohaku, Sanke, Showa), Hikarimono (metallic), and Kawarimono varieties, with a particular emphasis on producing large-bodied koi. The farm is known in the US import trade for maintaining an unusually large standing inventory across price points, from affordable hobbyist fish to competition-caliber specimens, and is frequently cited as a first stop for Niigata-touring dealers and buyers.
